Pietro Ferrero, that had a bakeshop in Alba, Piedmont, an area recognized for the manufacturing of hazelnuts, offered a preliminary set of 300 kilograms (660 lb) of Pasta Gianduja in 1946. This product was initially sold as a strong block, yet Ferrero began to market a velvety variation in 1951 as Supercrema.

In 1963, Ferrero’s child Michele Ferrero overhauled Supercrema with the intent of advertising and marketing it throughout Europe. Its make-up was modified, and it was relabelled “Nutella”. The very first jar of Nutella left the manufacturing facility in Alba on April 20, 1964. The product was an instant success and also stays extensively prominent.

In 2012, French legislator Yves Daudigny suggested a tax increase on hand oil from EUR100 to EUR400 each tonne. At 20 percent, palm oil is just one of Nutella’s cornerstones, and also the tax obligation was called “the Nutella tax obligation” in the media.

World Nutella Day is February 5.

On 14 May 2014, Poste italiane released a 50th anniversary Nutella commemorative stamp. The 70 Euro cent stamp was made by Istituto Poligrafico e Zecca dello Stato and features a jar of Nutella on a gold history.  Ferrero held a Nutella Day on 17 as well as 18 May to celebrate the wedding anniversary.

Since 2017, Ferrero Products are available in 160 countries.
